Social-ist Security?

Here's link to an article from the Wall Street Journal:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6975923/

Thus we begin to tackle the touchiest of touchy politicial subjects: social security!

[*applause*] [*howls of disapproval*]

I know how you guys love a good argument. Well, we're bound to find one here.

The Wall Street Journal is probably as conservative as the New York Times is liberal, so we should allow for the possibility of bias here. However, this IS an investment discussion (at least partly), and considering the average WSJ Online reader has a net worth of $1.6 million, we can probably assume the publication isn't just blowing smoke when it talks about money and investment yields.

Even if you're vehemently against the slightest change in the social security system, I recommend you read the article a few times with an open mind and a calm heart; see if there aren't a few truths there.

I have many, many thoughts on this issue. I'll dive into the fray next time.
